Introduction to 3D
A bit of history...
Since 1999 we are active in 3D...
The unique combination of high quality photography and computer graphics give us the ability to stay ahead of our competitors.
We use HDR techniques to capture the environment. A term used in the music industry is "sampling". We sample images instead of sounds.
The "sampling" of environments allow us to re-use them in our studio. And relight objects and create natural reflections and shadows.
Applications and examples
These techniques have mostly been prooved useful in automotive photography.
The most important reasons for car manufacturers to use 3D CG are:
- The new models are not shown "in the streets". They remain secret. Existing models don't suffer in their sales.
- No expensive prototypes or clay models have to be created nor transported to the studio (this als works for industrial equipment).
- Small corrections to a model be be performed in a very late stadium in the production, withour excessive cost.
- We control the weather!: a background and environment sample can be used from our extensive archive.
- No travel-cost: the most exotic locations can be used.
- The colour of the car can be changed in any stadium of the production.
